How GST works for a pet business
Output GST is the tax you charge customers on your sales — a grooming session, a bag of food, a week of boarding. You collect it on behalf of the government.
Input GST is the tax you pay suppliers when you buy stock or services for your business. If you're registered, you can claim it back as input tax credit (ITC).
Net GST payable = output GST − ITC. If ITC is higher (for example in a month you stocked up heavily), the extra carries forward to next month.
Selling within your state? The GST is split into CGST + SGST. Selling to another state? It's charged as IGST. FurKisses picks the right one automatically on every invoice.

FAQ
GST questions, simply answered
What is input tax credit (ITC)?
ITC is the GST you paid on purchases for your business (stock, equipment, rent and so on). If you are GST-registered, you can subtract it from the GST you collect on sales, so you only pay the difference to the government.
What if I'm not registered for GST?
You can't charge GST on your sales or claim ITC. The GST you pay on purchases becomes part of your cost, which lowers your margin. Toggle 'Not registered' to see the difference.
What's the difference between 'includes GST' and 'excludes GST'?
An inclusive price already has GST inside it (common on retail MRPs). An exclusive price has GST added on top (common on supplier invoices). The calculator converts both to the taxable value before working anything out.
Can I use this for filing my returns?
No — it's a planning tool. Classification, exemptions and rates can change and depend on your exact products. Please confirm with your chartered accountant before invoicing or filing.
