Find your way around the app

A tour of the sidebar sections, the branch switcher, notifications and the avatar menu, and why you might not see every menu item.

Updated 2026-10-03

Everything in FurKisses lives under /app. Here's how the screen is laid out.

Who can do this: everyone. What you see depends on your role and on the services your business offers.

The sidebar

The sidebar has your business name at the top and four sections below it:

  • Run: Dashboard, Calendar, Boarding, Daycare, Mobile routes, Clinic, Waitlist, Tasks, Scan check-in code and Incidents
  • People: Customers & pets, Outbox, Enquiries, Feedback and Staff
  • Money: Point of sale, Invoices, Packages and Inventory
  • Manage: Reports, Branches and Settings

Four of these are newer and worth knowing:

  • Waitlist: people waiting for a full day, and the slot offers sent to them when a booking is cancelled or moved. See how the waitlist fills cancelled slots.
  • Scan check-in code: scan a parent's QR code, or type their 6-character code, to check a pet in, mark it ready and check it out. See QR drop-off and pick-up.
  • Incidents: reports of injuries, illness and other problems, with manager review and the parent's acknowledgement. See report an incident.
  • Outbox: WhatsApp alerts waiting for a one-tap send, plus what was sent, failed or skipped. See the Outbox.

Two things decide which items you see:

  • Your business's services. Boarding, Daycare, Mobile routes and Clinic only appear if your business offers them. To change this, go to Settings → Business profile → What you offer.
  • Your role's permissions. For example, by default Groomers, Caretakers and Staff don't see Dashboard, Invoices or Reports. Waitlist and Incidents are shown to everyone who can view the calendar. Scan check-in code and Outbox need "Create / edit bookings", so the Staff role doesn't see them by default. Only Owners and Admins see Branches, and only Owners, Admins and Managers see Settings. If you open a page you can't access, you're sent back to /app with a "You don't have access to that." message.

The top bar

  • Business switcher: only appears if your login belongs to more than one business. Pick a business to switch to it.
  • Branch switcher: pick one branch or All branches (the "All" option only shows when you have two or more branches). Your choice filters the dashboard, calendar and most lists, and FurKisses remembers it on this device. If your staff profile is assigned to one branch, you'll see that branch's name as a fixed label instead, and you can't switch.
  • Bell: opens /app/notifications. The badge counts unread notifications.
  • Your avatar: opens a menu with My profile, Online booking page ↗ (opens your public booking page in a new tab), Help centre and Sign out.

On your phone

The sidebar is hidden on small screens. Tap the menu button in the top-left corner to open it, and tap outside it or the close button to close it. It also closes by itself when you open a page.

Settings

Settings opens a page of cards, one per area. Alongside Business profile, Services & pricing, Rooms & kennels, Messaging and Integrations, you'll find Alerts for pet parents, Booking policies and Peak & discount pricing.

Good to know

  • Clicking the FurKisses logo always takes you to /app. If your role can't view the dashboard, this page shows your My day view instead: your shift, your appointments, your tasks and the Clock in / Clock out button. If you can view the dashboard, a small My shift card at the top has the same Clock in / Clock out button.
  • Owners and Admins can change what each role can do at /app/staff/roles.
