The Outbox: send waiting messages with one tap
Where automatic alerts wait when WhatsApp isn't connected, how to send each one from your own WhatsApp in one tap, and how to handle old or failed messages.
Updated 2026-10-03
You don't need the WhatsApp Business API to use automatic alerts. FurKisses writes each message for you and keeps it in the Outbox (/app/outbox). You send it from your own WhatsApp with one tap.
Who can do this: roles with "Create / edit bookings". By default that's every role except Staff: Owner, Admin, Manager, Veterinarian, Groomer, Caretaker and Front desk.
Send a waiting message
- 1Open Outbox. The Waiting tab lists every message that hasn't gone out, oldest first. Each row shows the customer, their phone number, which alert it is, when it was queued and the exact message.
- 2Tap Send on WhatsApp. WhatsApp opens in a new tab (or the app on your phone) with the customer's chat and the message already typed.
- 3Press send in WhatsApp.
FurKisses marks the message as sent the moment you tap Send on WhatsApp, and moves it to the Sent tab with a Sent by hand tag. If you closed WhatsApp without sending, find the customer and send it again from the booking.
Don't want to send one? Tap Skip. It moves to the Skipped tab and is kept for the record.
Old messages
A message that has been waiting for more than 48 hours is flagged Old: check before sending. Read it first. A reminder for an appointment that has already happened should be skipped, not sent.
The tabs
- Waiting: messages queued and not yet sent.
- Sent: everything that has gone out, tagged Sent by hand or Sent automatically.
- Failed: messages WhatsApp refused, with the reason. Tap Retry to put one back in the queue, or Send on WhatsApp to send it by hand.
- Skipped: messages you chose not to send.
Each tab shows its count. Use the search box (customer name or phone), the alert list and the two dates to narrow things down, then tap Filter. The Outbox covers the whole business, not one branch, and shows 50 messages per page.
If WhatsApp is connected
Waiting messages show Sends automatically and normally leave within moments. Send all now at the top pushes everything waiting through WhatsApp straight away and tells you how many were sent and how many failed. Messages older than 48 hours are never sent automatically: send those by hand or skip them.
On the dashboard
When WhatsApp isn't connected and messages are waiting, the dashboard shows an Outbox tile with the number waiting. A Parent requests tile appears when pet parents have asked to reschedule or cancel from their link.
Good to know
- A parent who has opted out of WhatsApp updates never appears in the Outbox. Nothing is queued for them.
- Sending by hand uses your own WhatsApp and costs nothing.
- To choose which alerts are queued in the first place, see Automatic alerts: what pet parents receive and when.
