Change alert wording and timing

Switch alerts on or off, set how long before or after they go out, rewrite the message in your own voice and set the daily report card time.

Updated 2026-10-03

Every automatic alert has a switch, a message and (for some) a timing. All three live in Settings → Alerts for pet parents (/app/settings/alerts).

Who can do this: Owners, Admins and Managers. The Daily report card time can only be changed by Owners and Admins.

Switch an alert on or off

  1. 1Open Settings → Alerts for pet parents.
  2. 2Find the alert. They are grouped: Bookings, Stays, Live status, Health, After the visit, Come back and Money.
  3. 3Tap the switch on the right. It saves straight away.

Each alert says whether it is "On by default" or "Off by default", so you can always tell what you have changed.

Change the timing

Alerts that go out before or after something have a Timing box.

  1. 1Type the new number. For reminders, the check-in form and the feedback request you can also choose hours or days.
  2. 2Tap Save next to the box.

The limits:

  • Reminder the day before, Reminder 2 hours before and Pre-arrival check-in form: between 1 hour and 3 days before.
  • Feedback request: up to 46 hours after check-out.
  • Vaccine alerts: 0 to 31 days before the due date (0 means on the day).
  • Vaccine expires before a stay: 1 to 60 days before the stay.
  • Time for the next groom and We miss you: 1 to 365 days after the last visit.
  • Package expiring soon: 0 to 90 days before. Payment reminder: 1 to 90 days after the invoice.

Vaccine, come-back, package and payment alerts work in whole days. Time-based alerts are queued once an hour, so they can go out up to an hour later than the time you set.

Edit the wording

  1. 1Tap Edit wording on the alert.
  2. 2Rewrite the message. Tap a variable under Insert a variable to drop it in where your cursor is, for example {{pet_name}} or {{date}}. Only the variables that work for that alert are offered.
  3. 3Check the Preview. It shows the message with sample names and a sample link.
  4. 4Tap Save.

The alert now shows a Custom wording tag.

  • Keep it short. The counter shows the length, and long messages get truncated on lock screens, so put the important part first.
  • Keep the link. {{portal_link}} becomes the parent's private link, and {{feedback_link}} becomes the link to rate the visit. If you remove one from an alert that normally has it, FurKisses shows a warning, because the parent then has no way to open the form, photos or rating page.

Go back to the original

  • Reset to default wording (inside Edit wording) deletes your custom wording for that alert.
  • Reset all to defaults (top of the page) puts every switch and timing back to the defaults. Your custom wording is kept.

Daily report card time

The Daily report card time card sets the hour after which the daily report cards for staying pets go out. Pick an hour and tap Save. The time is in your business's time zone. Most businesses choose early evening, after the last walk.

Good to know

  • Wording saved here is the same template you see in Settings → Messaging. If a template there is switched off and no other is active, that alert shows Template switched off and nothing is sent until you save new wording or reset it.
  • The wording for the manual invoice buttons ("Invoice sent" and "Payment reminder") is edited in Settings → Messaging.
  • Changes apply to messages queued from now on. Messages already waiting in the Outbox keep the wording they were written with.
