Stock valuation

Open Inventory → Valuation (/app/inventory/valuation). The figures are for the branch picked in the branch picker, or every branch combined when All branches is selected.

The four tiles at the top show:

  • Stock at cost: quantity on hand × each product's Cost price.
  • Stock at retail: quantity on hand × each product's Sell price.
  • Potential margin: retail minus cost, also shown as a percentage of retail.
  • Products in stock: how many products you hold, and the total units.

Below the tiles:

  • By category shows cost and retail value for each category. Products without a category are grouped as "Uncategorised".
  • By product lists every product with stock, sorted by cost value. It shows Qty, Cost price, Cost value and Retail value, with totals at the bottom.

Only active products with more than zero in stock are counted.

Export your inventory

  1. 1Go to Inventory (the Products tab).
  2. 2Pick a branch in the branch picker, or All branches, and set any search, category or Low stock only filter.
  3. 3Click Export CSV. The file follows the filters on screen.

You'll download a file named like inventory-indiranagar-2026-10-02.csv with these columns:

  • name, sku, barcode, category, brand, unit
  • cost_price, sell_price, tax_rate, hsn_code, reorder_level
  • stock_qty for the branch you picked, or the total across all branches
  • is_medicine, is_consumable, is_active

The file opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Values that start with =, +, - or @ get an apostrophe in front, so a spreadsheet won't treat them as formulas.

Who can do this

Owner, Admin, Manager, Veterinarian and Front desk. Anyone who can view inventory can see valuation and export the CSV.

Good to know

  • Valuation uses each product's latest cost price, not an average of what you paid for each delivery. Receiving a purchase order updates the cost price to that PO's unit cost.
  • Retail value uses the sell price as entered. If your prices include tax, retail value includes tax too.
  • Inactive products are left out of the export. To include them, add ?inactive=1 to the export address.
  • For sales and tax figures, use the Reports section.
