Log care during a stay
Record feeds, walks, meds and more in one tap, share them with the pet parent, and use the stay sheet to move rooms or extend a stay.
Updated 2026-10-03
Care logs build a timeline of everything that happened during a pet's stay. Log from the in-house cards on the Boarding board, or from the pet's stay sheet at /app/boarding/<id>.
Who can do this: anyone with "Create / edit bookings" can add logs and change stays (every role except Staff by default). Everyone can read the timeline.
One-tap logging
- 1Tap a care button, for example feeding, walk, medication, play, potty, behaviour, health or note. The stay sheet also has rest.
- 2Optionally type a short note, like "ate half".
- 3Press Enter or click Log. Press Esc or the close button to cancel.
The entry is saved with the time and your name. One-tap logs are shared with the pet parent by default, so they appear on the parent's link.
Detailed entries
On the stay sheet, under Log care:
- 1Choose a Type. All ten care types are available, including grooming.
- 2Write the Details.
- 3Optionally tap Attach photos or videos.
- 4Leave Share with pet parent switched on if this entry is suitable for the owner to see. It is on by default. Switch it off for anything that is only for your team.
- 5Click Add log.
- 6After saving a shared log, a Send care update on WhatsApp button appears. It opens WhatsApp with a message ready (pet name, type, time and your note). You still press send in WhatsApp, and the message is added to the customer's message history.
Shared entries in the timeline also have a small WhatsApp link so you can send (or resend) them later.
The Care timeline groups entries by day, newest first, and shows who logged each one. Counts per type appear at the top.
The stay sheet
- The header has Check in, Check out and Cancel buttons, depending on the status, plus Booking to open the full booking page.
- Pet care shows allergies, feeding instructions, care notes, medical notes, temperament and booking notes.
- Check-in form shows what the parent sent in before the stay, and Authorised to collect lists who may pick the pet up. See the pre-arrival check-in form.
- Photos & videos and Add photos post updates to the parent's link. See post photo and video updates.
- Report cards has one row per day of the stay. See daily report cards.
- Report an incident records an injury, illness or other problem for a manager to review and share. See report an incident.
- Mark ready for pick-up tells the parent their pet can be collected, and the sheet then shows Ready since with the time.
- Stay shows check-in and check-out times (actual or planned), nights, estimate and the owner's phone number. For daycare it's called Visit and shows a day count ("Day visit" or "N days") instead of nights.
Move a pet to another room
- 1In the Stay card, choose the new Room.
- 2Click Change room. The new room is checked for space from now until check-out.
Extend or shorten a stay
- 1Change the Check-out date and Time.
- 2Click Extend / shorten stay. Per-night services and the estimate update to match the new number of nights.
Good to know
- Room and stay changes are hidden once a stay is completed or cancelled.
- If the room is full for the extra nights, the change is refused. Move the pet to another room first.
- Share with pet parent marks the entry as shared ("shared" in the timeline, "Shared" on the pet's profile). Shared entries and their photos appear on the parent's private link straight away. No WhatsApp message goes out for each log: parents get one Daily report card alert a day instead, and a care update on WhatsApp only goes out when you press send yourself. The WhatsApp button needs the customer's phone number.
Tip: Log feeds and meds as they happen, not at the end of the shift. The times on the timeline are when each entry was saved.
