Sell at the counter with the point-of-sale screen

Scan or tap products and services into a cart, take split payments, give change and print a till receipt.

The Point of sale screen (/app/pos) is a fast till for walk-in shoppers and quick add-ons. Every sale creates a normal invoice.

Ring up a sale

  1. 1Go to Point of sale in the sidebar. The header shows the branch you're selling from, and stock counts are for that branch.
  2. 2Scan a barcode, or type a SKU into the search box and press Enter. An exact barcode or SKU match goes straight into the cart. You can also tap a product tile, and use the category chips (All, then your product categories) to narrow the grid. Switch to the Services tab to sell services, such as a nail trim, or the Packages tab to sell a package.
  3. 3In the Cart, use the + and − buttons to change quantities. Pressing − on a quantity of 1 removes the line.
  4. 4To pay from a wallet or keep the sale in a customer's history, attach them with Attach customer (optional). Otherwise the sale is recorded as a walk-in. A customer is required when the cart has a package, and Charge stays disabled until you attach one.
  5. 5Type a Coupon code and click Apply if the customer has one.
  6. 6Click Charge. The button shows the total.

Take payment

  1. 1The Take payment window shows Total, Paid and Remaining.
  2. 2Pick a method, check the amount and click Add. Repeat with another method to split the bill, e.g. part Cash and part Card.
  3. 3For cash, use the quick-amount buttons. If you enter more than what's left, a message tells you how much change to give.
  4. 4When Remaining reaches zero, click Complete sale.

If a customer is attached, you can click Save unpaid (or Save part-paid) to put the balance on account instead.

The receipt

After the sale you'll see Payment complete (or Sale saved if money is still owed). From there:

  • Print receipt prints an 80 mm till receipt.
  • New sale starts the next sale.
  • Open full invoice takes you to the full invoice.

Who can do this

Selling: Owner, Admin, Manager, Veterinarian and Front desk. Edit price and Discount on cart lines: Owner, Admin and Manager by default.

Good to know

  • To add tips, set due dates or write notes, use a full invoice.
  • Wallet is greyed out until you attach a customer, and you can't take more from a wallet than its balance.
  • Change is only shown on screen. The invoice records the amount applied to the bill, not the cash handed over.
  • When a cart line needs more than the branch has, the line shows "only N in stock" and the cart shows a warning. The sale still goes through and stock goes below zero until the delivery is recorded.
  • Consumable products don't appear in the POS.
