Charge no-show and late-cancellation fees

Set a fee per service and a free-cancellation window, and FurKisses asks you to charge it when a booking is cancelled late or missed.

Updated 2026-10-03

Empty slots cost money. A fee for late cancellations and no-shows protects your day, and FurKisses reminds your team to charge it at the right moment.

Who can do this: setting fees on services needs "Business settings, services, rooms" (Owner, Admin and Manager by default). The free-cancellation window is set by Owner and Admin. Charging a fee needs "Create / edit bookings". Changing the fee amount needs "Override prices / discounts" (Owner, Admin and Manager by default).

Step 1: set the fee on a service

  1. 1Go to Settings → Services & pricing (/app/settings/services) and edit a service.
  2. 2Under Fee for no-shows and late cancellations, choose Fixed amount or Percentage of the price and type the value.
  3. 3The example line shows what the fee would be on that service's price.
  4. 4Click Save service.

The form also reminds you of your window, for example "Applies when cancelled less than 24 hours before, or on a no-show."

Step 2: set the free-cancellation window

Go to Settings → Booking policies (/app/settings/policies). Under Cancellations, type the number of hours in Free cancellation until (hours before the booking). The sentence underneath shows the rule in plain English.

  • 24 means customers can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start.
  • 0 means they can cancel free of charge right up to the start time.

What happens when you cancel a booking

  1. 1Open the booking and click Cancel or No-show.
  2. 2If the booking was cancelled inside the window, or it is a no-show, and its services have a fee, you see a prompt: "Charge the late cancellation fee of …?" or "Charge the no-show fee of …?".
  3. 3Click Charge fee to create an invoice for the fee, or Waive to let it go.

After charging, the booking shows Fee charged: invoice … with a link to the invoice. Take payment on the invoice the usual way.

If you cancel from the calendar, the daycare board or a route, the confirmation message has a Review button that opens the same prompt.

Changing the amount

If your role can override prices, the prompt shows Change the amount. Type the new fee and click Charge fee. Everyone else charges the amount worked out from the services.

If a deposit was paid

  • Late cancellation or no-show: the paid deposit is put towards the fee invoice automatically. If the deposit is bigger than the fee, the rest goes to the customer's wallet.
  • Cancelled in time: managers see "Refund the … deposit?" with Refund to wallet and Mark refund due.

Changed your mind?

If you waived a fee, the cancelled booking still shows "No fee has been charged for this booking." with a link to charge it later.

Good to know

  • The fee is worked out from the prices on the booking, including any peak pricing.
  • A booking can only have one invoice, so a booking that was already invoiced can't be charged a fee.
  • Cancelling or marking a no-show also offers the freed slot to your waitlist. The booking then shows "This slot was offered to the waitlist".
