FurKisses Payments or your own gateway: which to choose

Two ways to take online payments: let FurKisses Payments settle to your bank account for a small fee, or connect a gateway account you already have.

Updated 2026-10-03

Every invoice and booking deposit has a pay link. What happens when the customer taps it depends on one setting: Settings → Payments (/app/settings/payments).

The three options

  • FurKisses Payments (recommended). You don't need a gateway account of your own. Customers pay by UPI, card, netbanking or wallet, and your share is settled straight to your bank account. A platform fee is taken from each payment. The exact percentage is always shown on the FurKisses Payments option on the Payments page, whichever option you are on now.
  • My own payment gateway. You connect your own Cashfree, Razorpay, Stripe, PayU, PhonePe or Mollie account. The money goes into that account. There is no platform fee. Your gateway's own charges apply.
  • Off. Customers pay at the counter. Pay links tell them to pay in person or call you.

When FurKisses Payments is the better fit

  • You don't have a payment gateway yet and want to start this week.
  • You'd rather not manage API keys and webhooks.
  • You charge in INR. FurKisses Payments is for Indian rupee businesses only.

If the FurKisses Payments option is greyed out, the reason is shown on it: either your business doesn't charge in INR, or FurKisses Payments isn't switched on yet.

You add a bank account (or UPI ID) once, it is verified (usually within a few minutes), and online payments switch on by themselves. See set up your payout account.

When your own gateway is the better fit

  • You already have a gateway account with rates you're happy with.
  • You charge in a currency other than INR.
  • You want settlements, refunds and disputes handled entirely in your own gateway dashboard.

See connect your own gateway.

How the platform fee works

  1. 1The customer pays the full amount of the invoice or deposit.
  2. 2The payment is split. Your share (100% minus the platform fee) is settled to your bank account.
  3. 3The fee stays with FurKisses.

The platform fee is the only deduction FurKisses makes. For example, at a 3% fee a ₹1,000 payment settles ₹970 to you and ₹30 is the fee. Your real percentage is on the Payments page.

The invoice always records the full amount the customer paid. Under Settings → Payments → Online payments you can see the fee and what you receive for every payment.

With your own gateway there is no platform fee, but your gateway charges you directly, typically a percentage of each payment plus tax that varies by payment method. Compare that with the platform fee before you choose.

Switching later

  1. 1Go to Settings → Payments.
  2. 2Pick another option and click Save.

You can switch at any time. Payments already made are not affected, and pay links you've already sent keep working: they use whichever option is selected when the customer pays.

The status line at the top

The Payments page always tells you where you stand:

  • Online payments are ON via FurKisses Payments or via your own gateway: customers can pay online now.
  • Online payments are OFF, followed by the reason, such as "Add your bank account to receive payouts" or "No payment gateway is connected".

Who can do this

Anyone with the business settings permission can open the Payments page. Only the Owner and Admin can change the option or add the payout account.
