Take a deposit to confirm bookings

Set a deposit on a service once, then request it, collect it and track it on every booking.

Updated 2026-10-03

A deposit is money the customer pays up front to hold their slot. You set the amount on each service, choose which bookings ask for it, and FurKisses does the rest: it sends the pay link, records the payment and takes the deposit off the final invoice.

Who can do this: setting deposits on services needs "Business settings, services, rooms" (Owner, Admin and Manager by default). Choosing which bookings ask for a deposit is for Owner and Admin only. Requesting and recording a deposit on a booking needs "Create / edit bookings". Refunding a paid deposit is for Owner, Admin and Manager.

Step 1: set the deposit on a service

  1. 1Go to Settings → Services & pricing (/app/settings/services) and edit a service.
  2. 2Under Deposit to confirm a booking, choose Fixed amount or Percentage of the price and type the value.
  3. 3Check the example line under the field, for instance "On a ₹1,200.00 booking the deposit is ₹300.00".
  4. 4Click Save service.

Services with a deposit show a Deposit chip in the list. Choose None to remove it.

Step 2: choose which bookings ask for it

Go to Settings → Booking policies (/app/settings/policies). Under Deposits, set Ask for deposits on:

  • Off: nothing is asked automatically. Staff can still request a deposit by hand.
  • Online bookings only: customers who book on your booking page are asked to pay.
  • Every booking: bookings made by staff ask for the deposit too.

Leave Confirm the booking automatically when the deposit is paid ticked if a pending booking should become confirmed the moment the money arrives.

Request a deposit when you make a booking

On New booking, the Price section shows Deposit these services ask for. When there is one, you see a checkbox Request a deposit of …. It is already ticked when your policy is Every booking.

  • Click Ask for a different amount to type your own figure.
  • If the services have no deposit, click + Ask for a deposit on this booking to set one just for this booking.
Tick Save as pending (not yet confirmed) if the booking should only be confirmed once the deposit is paid.

Request and collect on an existing booking

Open the booking. The Deposit panel is on the right.

Click Request deposit, then pick Automatic amount (worked out from the services) or Custom amount.

While the deposit is waiting for payment you can:

  • Copy pay link and paste it anywhere.
  • Send on WhatsApp to open WhatsApp with a short message and the link.
  • Record payment at the counter and choose Cash, Card, UPI or Bank transfer.
  • Cancel request, which also stops the pay link working.

On the calendar, a booking with an unpaid deposit shows a small currency sign (₹ for rupees) so you can see who still owes one.

After it is paid

The panel shows "Paid" with the amount, the date and how it was paid. When you create the invoice for that booking, the deposit is taken off by itself and the panel shows Applied to invoice with a link.

If the deposit is bigger than the final bill, the difference goes to the customer's wallet.

Refunds

A manager sees two buttons on a paid deposit:

  • Refund to wallet puts the money in the customer's wallet for their next visit.
  • Mark refund due closes the deposit without touching the wallet. Use it when you will pay the money back yourself, in cash, by bank transfer or from your payment gateway.

Good to know

  • A booking has one open deposit at a time.
  • Cancelling a booking or marking it a no-show cancels an unpaid deposit request for you.
  • Online pay links need Razorpay or Stripe to be connected. See accept online payments. Without a gateway you can still record deposits at the counter.
