Memberships that renew themselves

A membership is a package marked Membership (can auto-renew). With Auto-renew on, FurKisses does the chasing for you each time it's about to expire.

What Auto-renew does, honestly

• 3 days before the membership expires, FurKisses raises a renewal invoice for the package price.
• It messages the customer a pay link for that invoice.
• When the invoice is paid, the membership gets a fresh set of credits and its expiry date moves forward by the package's validity.

It does not charge a saved card. Nothing is taken from the customer until they pay the invoice themselves, online or at your counter.

Turn it on

1. 1Go to Packages (/app/packages) and open the Sold packages tab.
2. 2Find the customer's membership. Memberships show an Auto-renew switch under the package name.
3. 3Switch Auto-renew on. It saves straight away.

Switch it off the same way at any time. Auto-renew is set per customer, so you can have it on for some members and off for others.

When a renewal is due

• The row shows Renewal invoice sent with a link to the invoice.
• The customer gets the "Membership renewal" message with the amount and the pay link.
• If they pay online, credits refresh by themselves. If they pay at the counter, open the renewal invoice and click Record payment. Credits refresh as soon as the invoice is fully paid.
• Only one renewal invoice is raised at a time. The next one is raised before the following expiry.

If the customer doesn't pay

The membership expires on its date as usual and the renewal invoice stays unpaid. Paying it later still refreshes the credits and restarts the membership. If the customer isn't coming back, a manager can void the invoice.

Renew by hand instead

Click Renew on the sold package to open a new invoice for the same package and customer. This sells the package again as a new purchase and works for any package, not only memberships.

Good to know

• Auto-renew needs an expiry date. Every package has a "Valid for (days)" value, so this is normally set.
• The package must still be on sale. Hidden packages aren't renewed.
• The renewal uses the package's current price and tax rate.
• For the pay link to take money online, switch on FurKisses Payments or connect your own gateway. See accept online payments. Without one the invoice is still raised and the customer can pay at the counter.
• Messages go out automatically if WhatsApp is connected. Otherwise they wait in the Outbox for a one-tap send.
• You can change how many days ahead the renewal goes out, or switch the message off, under Settings → Alerts ("Membership renewal").

Who can do this

Anyone who can take payments can switch Auto-renew on or off: Owner, Admin, Manager, Veterinarian and Front desk by default. Creating or editing the membership package itself needs the business settings permission (Owner, Admin and Manager by default).
